My son, David

Holden, who is 5, does not like to speak his prayers.

Instead, he sings them.

For months, he would only sing them when he was alone with Heather, but recently, he’s opened up, and began singing them when other people were around. But never when I was there.

But, last night, even while his friend Nicolas was eating dinner with us, I heard this beautiful, sweet voice singing:

I love You, Lord.
You are a good Lord to me.
You are in my heart.
I need You. I love You.
Thank You, Lord.
You’re in my heart.

I am so blessed.
I pray I never forget last night.

I need $320

I am taking seminary courses from Reformed Baptist Seminary, and have a great opportunity to kick-start my Greek study.

Greek in a Week
is coming to Houston this summer. It costs $320 if I preregister.

2 essential elements of a truly great song…

1. Heartbreak
2. Regret

I have often said that atheist music leads me into greater moments of worship that most “worship” music. I often can’t follow Christian musicians into worship because of the cheese factor. But, in turning from what thoughtful and honest atheists sing, I find myself overwhelmed by the grace of God.

This song, which is my current favorite, is full of heartbreak and regret. It is the opposite of “Don’t Waste Your Life.”

It’s What Have I Done by Cursive.

This is technically 2 songs, but, like Brain Stew/Jaded, they work better when heard together.

I think I’m going to do a short series about songs I never get tired of.

I don’t know if you care, and since it’s music that I love, I don’t care if you do or not.

These are songs that I never get sick of hearing.

Why I like the new Facebook homepage…

…it’s a step in the right direction.

Facebook is full of worthless apps and information that I never use. Sure, there was a week I played with a couple of apps, but all I care about it the live feed of status updates.

And this is exactly what the new page provides.

facebook1

This is getting close to a useable and enjoyable site. It is almost built using some nice design standards. Unfortunately, it is still too busy and full of useless information.

So I make the following humble suggestion:
Get rid of the crap!

It might look like this:

facebook2

But, now we run into another problem. With all of the useless stuff removed, our site is now boring and a little plain. So, let’s get rid of the dead white space as well. There’s no reason why facebook should look like a window’s app. It deserves better.

facebook3

Now, that’s a facebook homepage I can get behind. It looks nice. It features the status feed front and center. It stripped away all of the time-wasting poop.

Now, it’s a site like no other.

Not blogging much…

I find that I actually have much more to say when I am limited to 140 characters or less, so I have not been blogging much. Instead, I have been using twitter.

New Desk Set-up

Not a new desk, but a new set up.

I needed room to spread out because of my seminary studies, but I had none. So I made some.

1. I bought a 3-tiered wall mount metal file and laid it on it’s back with the openings facing me.

2. I used twisty ties to secure my laptop stand to the rack.

3. I installed a powered USB hub on the back and ran the cable to my computer. Now, there is only one USB port used for a printer, an external drive (also behind the rack), mouse, etc…

4. Mighty mouse and mac keyboard.
