From Central City Co-op:
A co-op is a community of people interested in working together to their mutual benefit. Our co-operative members are interested in having the freshest, organic produce available and at a reasonable prices. We purchase in the largest quantities possible and divide amongst the members in the form of shares or through a market setting. By buying in quantity, we are able to pass savings on to the members.
What is a “Partner Co-op”
Central City Co-op has done all the work of networking with local farmers and organic produce distributors. As a Partner Co-op, Basilica Southeast Co-op is able to place our order with them, let them determine the most cost effective and local options for the shares, and coordinate the vendors. For this, we pay an annual fee and go to their Co-op location (2115 Taft, Houston, TX) to pick up the produce each Wednesday.
